DEEP SEA DIVER RELEASES NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “NWO”
THE BAND TO PLAY BUMBERSHOOT FESTIVAL AND DOE BAY FESTIVAL THIS FALL
[July 2nd, 2012- Seattle, WA] Seattle based Deep Sea Diver have released their new music video for the single “NWO” off their first full length album History Speaks. The band is set to play the Doe Bay Festival on August 11th & 12th as well as the Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival on September 2nd.
Deep Sea Diver’s initial formation as a songwriting moniker for Jessica Dobson turned into a full-fledged music collaboration when drummer, and future husband, Peter Mansen joined the band along with bassist John Raines. Following the release of their first EP New Caves, the band embarked on a national tour with Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band to promote the album. In between releases, Dobson's professional work involved being a touring guitarist for Beck and a touring bassist for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Jessica is now the lead guitarist for the latest incarnation of The Shins.
The album was recorded in Long Beach with Matt Wignall (Cold War Kids, the Delta Spirit), mixed in Seattle by Luke Vander Pol and remastered by TW Walsh (Sufjan Stevens, Crystal Skulls). Album producer Matt Wignall was also given the reigns to direct the music video for “NWO” where he took a daredevil approach to filming each band member. One LED light, a single camera and some darker themed images became the main inspirations to approach the video with a wide arrange of DIY techniques. Wignall went to great strides for the band and braved the winds on the back of a pickup while venturing into the heart of the Seattle wilderness, proving their director/producer to be as creative as the band. One look at the video will rope anyone into the melodic flurry of “NWO”.
Deep Sea Diver will play two local festivals in the Seattle area. The band will play two dates at the always growing Doe Bay Festival on August 11th & 12th. Doe Bay is a festival that offers a one of a kind musical retreat on Orcas Island in Washington. This weekend festival includes an extensive line-up of musicians, local cuisine, camping and activities.
Soon after, the band will hit the stage at the popular Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival on September 2nd in Seattle. Bumbershoot has become a local staple when it comes to bringing local and national talent together in Seattle and this year will be no different. Deep Sea Diver will share the bill with notable acts such as M83, Best Coast, M Ward, Passion Pit, Gotye and many more. In addition to this eclectic music line up, Bumbershoot offers a hilarious comedy lineup and diverse visual and performing arts galleries that are offered on the festival grounds.
