OFF!: Compared To What

Keith Morris continues to be Mr. Motherfucking Intense. At 55 years of age, it’s absurd that he should still be pursuing life in hardcore, opting instead to be “on” all the time by being OFF!, (And why does he continue to be in bug-repellent bands? Black Flag? OFF!? The guy must really have it in for anything with six-legs.) I don’t know how he does it, but he’s doing it right and putting many who’ve followed in his footsteps to wallow in shame and suffer in disgrace. Romantic, no? Unfair? So what? The guy can match most teenagers as far as I'm concerned so hang your head, you pussies.

Room 205 is a communal effort, one that incorporates art, environment, film and performance. A clip of OFF! performing “Compared To What” is up for viewing.

OFF! Opens Room 205 with a Mind Scraping Performance of "Compared to What"

We're excited to launch the newest installment of Room 205 with hardcore supergroup OFF! While on a recent break from busy summer touring, the band blasted through a short set inside a dodgy motel room rehearsal space (otherwise known as Room 205). Today's afternoon delight begins with the brutal skronk and screed of "Compared To What" from the debut album, First Four EPs (VICE).

The four members of OFF! come from an array of truly awe-inspiring bands. Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), Steven McDonald (Redd Kross), and Mario Rubalcaba (Earthless/Hot Snakes/Rocket From the Crypt). Formed in Los Angeles in 2010, they've already released four EPs of classic hardcore and logged more road miles than most bands will in their entire existence. The individual roots established by these lifelong musicians are uniquely woven throughout the rock music canon. To call OFF! a supergroup just isn't super enough.

Look for the second and third installments of OFF!'s Room 205 episode to launch August 8th and 15th respectively.
